One of our own is Heading for Hong Kong

July 24th to Aug. 7th
Hampton's Jennifer Hanson has been selected as chaperone for Canada's Pony Club team bound for the Inter Pacific Exchange in Hong Kong in mid-summer. This event, the highest level of competition in the Pony Club circuit, is held every two years and includes teams from Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong. The group will spend two weeks training and competing in both eventing and show jumping at the facilities used during last year's Olympic competitions.

"This is going to be an amazing opportunity," Jennifer said. "There are six of us going on the team. The riders are aged 17-21 so it should be a great group."

The team members are:

  • Jacqueline Stephenson, Davisburg PC ABS
  • Charlotte Harman, Land o' Lakes PC SLOV
  • Christine Austerman, Davisburg PC ABS
  • Alternate: Connie McLellan, Opportunity PC NS

Provincial Veterinarian Fee update

Representatives of the Equine Industry in New Brunswick including Gary Fleiger, Kerry Hayes and Cindy McCloskey, met with representatives from the Department of Agriculture. The Meeting resulted in an agreement that, given that there has not been any increase in fees at the clinic in Fredericton for several years, some increase was reasonable. However, it was felt that a $320 per hour charge would be detrimental to both animals and owners. The attendees agreed on the following rates:

  • $196 per hour for professional time
  • $30 per day board

More information will follow.
